You're mobile, make sure your card is too

Your payment card works even harder when paired with the Optum Financial® mobile app. It gives you everything you need to manage and use your account on the go. Check account balances, pay bills, capture receipts, search for qualified expenses and more.

You need to activate your card if you're a new Optum card user or if you got an additional or replacement card for an existing account.

There are 3 ways to activate your card:

  • Call the number on your card's activation sticker.
  • Sign in to your Optum Financial mobile app and navigate to the Cards section. Don't have the app? Download it now.
  • Sign in to your account online, navigate to the Cards section and follow the prompts to activate your new card. If you don't have an online account, it's easy to set one up.

However you choose to activate your card, be sure to:

  • Have the last 4 digits of the primary account holder’s Social Security number on hand.
  • Review the Cardholder Agreement, which was mailed with your card.
  • Keep your card even if you use all of your funds. You may be able to use the same card in the next plan year.

If you asked for a second card for another cardholder, you must activate that card separately.

No, you don't need a PIN to use your card. Simply choose "credit" when you pay. It's fast and easy.

But if you prefer to use a PIN, you can. Here's how it works:

  • You'll get a PIN when you activate your card.
  • If you choose "debit" when you pay, you'll need to enter your PIN.

You can change your PIN anytime by calling 1-888-999-0121.

You can use your card on thousands of everyday and common health items, such as:

  • Copays, cough syrup and crutches
  • Bandages and braces

  • Eye care and skin care products
  • Baby monitoring systems, thermometers and more
